Movie directors today can deliver anything their imagination dictates on the big screen. From superheroes fighting each other to giant monsters terrorizing cities and from alien invasions to imagined fairytale worlds, moviegoers -it seems- have finally what they had always been asking for.

Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) had indeed helped directors to tell stories otherwise impossible to make on the silver screen. Yet, despite the advancements in CGI technology, audiences are evermore less impressed while the special effects shots look more fake than ever.

Why’s that?

A Technological Revolution

To better understand why many blockbuster movies today look less realistic, despite their advanced special effect technology, we first need to look at the film that forever changed the history of visual effects- Jurassic Park.
